That’s A Wrap!

We made haste on our return but, as always, the journey is a delight. A gorgeous sunrise over Oklahoma City; a stop in Little Rock to see the Clinton Presidential Library; an unexpected night at a lovely TVA state campground near Knoxville (thanks FDR!) and our favorite stopover: Nick and Jamie’s home in Maryland. We are very happy to be home and look forward to seeing everyone again. Thanks for the well wishes along the way!

Making Tracks!

We had a special birthday dinner with Rachel, and then we packed up and headed East! We love being in the Rig (aka the Rigatoni), which makes leaving Rachel and SoCal easier.

First stop: Sedona. We stayed in a cottage at the base of Thunder Mountain. To quote my niece Addie: I am so mad at my iPhone for not getting better pictures! Those colors… . Next day we headed to Santa Fe, another gorgeous place with amazing colors. We are clocking around 500 miles per day so far. Tonight we are holed up outside of Oklahoma City in a nondescript hotel–it’s not all beauty people! But always interesting.

Selfie game improving, some.

The Final Stretch

It is our last weekend in California! What a great way to ride out the winter–amazing weather, beautiful beaches, terrific food and–best of all–lots of time with Rachel and Beans. Great visits with Belinda in San Diego, and Grampy and Addie in Manhattan Beach. The Suits head out 3/31/22 on a fast trip back–more later!

After the Getty, we did a drive down Sunset Boulevard and Hollywood Blvd, oblivious to Oscar weekend. We did not see any celebrities from our car (did not stop!) but the security was intense, and the tour buses.

We are in trouble: this photo was taken when it was 63 degrees and we were cold. Gulp.

California Dreamin’

Friends! The clock goes back, and spring will come. We look forward to heading home but really loving the weather and the outdoor lifestyle while we have it this month. And having Rachel nearby is pretty great too.

Hit the Getty Villa grounds and could not bring ourselves inside.

SoCal is in bloom and my phone is full of pictures! Stunning. Let me bore you just a bit:

Sending lots of love and thoughts of sunshine!

LA Woman

After seven amazing weeks on the beach in San Diego, the Traveling Suits headed up the coast to Manhattan Beach. We are a little over 10 miles to downtown Los Angeles as the crow flies, but we cannot travel by crow so we have to drive in crazy traffic. It is hilly here–like San Fran hills–and beautiful. Grampy Foley aka Jay has joined us for the week and our wonderful niece Addie was here for the weekend. And Beans too. We are just about 30 minutes from Rachel. What fun!

Good Times

First, my mother turned 88! Always the life of any party, and she makes the effort to be happy every day. We are all very grateful she is so sharp and independent.

Week 6 in Mission Beach and one more to go! Still love the vibe, the weather, the views from the house.

More baby seals in La Jolla! Obsessed–counted 8 when we went yesterday with Rachel. Just a gorgeous spot all around, with Torrey Pines in the distance on top of the cliffs.

Lunch and shopping in La Jolla

Hit downtown and the Gaslamp Quarter on a hopping Saturday night.

Super Week

Belinda Barton, my friend of over 40 years (yikes), came for the week and we had so much fun! Rented (another) convertible and spent a lot of time watching newborn seals and surfers in La Jolla. Also eating, chatting, cruising, shopping, walking, laughing, SUP (her), watching the Olympics, laughing some more. We had a gorgeous day in Balboa Park. Best weather week yet–sunny and high 70s. Mike joined us after work hours and we had a blast.

We are all sad about the Bengals loss at the Super Bowl, even Beans. Silver lining: amazing half time show and Rachel ran a 10k in the morning!

Vibing in SoCal

Rachel and Alex came last week. A native of Cincinnati, Alex had to leave early to be ready for the Bengals v Chiefs game. We gave him what turned out to be a good luck poncho! Go Bengals! (He was also very patient with Pal!)

Morning bike rides on the ocean side always provide a lot of activity and beautiful beach views.

We have been taking drives and bike rides up north–a gorgeous drive along the ocean. Pacific Beach, La Jolla, Torrey Pines, Solana Beach, Del Mar, Encinitas. Just one gorgeous beach after the other–some cool towns too.

No, not a real beach.

Around & About

The beautiful weather here is not lost on us for a minute. Very grateful. Sending warmth and safety back home to everyone riding out the storm.
